More than 50 navigable kilometres, 60 rapids, 9 runs from class 1 to 6 (maximum difficulty)
Ubaye is an alpine torrent. Wild, protected from any dam, it takes its source in mountains on the Italian border.
The river goes down then on about 80 km meeting many torrents. The water level fluctuates with thaws and rainfalls.
The most famous runs are on the lowest part :
- Thuiles - Fresquière: impressive waves when big water;
- Upper Ex-infrans (ex unbridgeable): very steady and sport, incomparable sensations of speed;
- Martinet - Lauzet: the classic. Sports and voluminous run by big water, accessible to all in summer with very numerous rapids;
- Lower Ex-infrans: in the heart of the imperial gorge, it is the most difficult and the most engaged. An initiatory experience.
His rare beauty and intensity make the Ubaye a unique river of great renown. Every year, white water sport enthusiasts come from all over Europe to rub shoulders with it.
