FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What’s required to do white water sports?
Our activities are open to everyone. But it is essential to be able to swim.

Is there an age limit to start?
You must be able to swim to go rafting. The runs will be adapted to the water levels and to the difficulties involved. The Hydro speed, the canoe and the canyoning are open to everyone from 12 years old.

How long do the activities last?
We stay from 1 hour ½ to 3 hours on the water depending on the length of the descent. In addition, you will need an extra hour to get ready and for the briefing and transport. Usually, allow a half day for the whole experience.

Is it necessary to be athletic to practise these activities?
Only remember Nature Eau Vive’s slogan: Work at your own speed.
In Ubaye, we can offer challenges at every level of difficulty, so that everyone can find a run that will suit them.

Is there somebody with you?
All our activities are monitored by our qualified guides. All of them are qualified and hold canoe kayak diplomas. They also hold specific qualifications in each activity we offer (rafting, hydro speed, canoeing).

What do you need to take with you?
Nature Eau Vive provides you with all the necessary equipment. You just have to take with you a swimsuit, a pair of trainee shoes, and thermal clothing if you have.

What is the provided equipment?
For your safety and comfort, Nature Eau Vive selects top-of-the-range specific equipment for each activity.

How many rapids are there?
There are more than 50 rapids on the 50 km of the Ubaye river. Every one of them has a name reflecting the imagination of the rafters and also the complexity of the river. Here are some of them: “La dent du requin” (the teeth of the shark), “la fosse aux lions” (lions' den), “la moulinette“ (the mangle), and “la maxi vague” (the maxi wave).

Do you need to book in advance?
If you already are in the valley, just pop in or give us a call. If you want to come as a group, we strongly advise you to book in advance. We will then require you to pay a deposit of 30 % of the total amount due.

For more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We will be happy to help you.
